1970 CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL - St Helens v Leeds (at Odsall)

On this classic Rugby League Nostalgia DVD you can enjoy full match
coverage of the 1970 Championship Final in which St.Helens beat
Leeds 24-12 at the Odsal Stadium in Bradford. Championship Finals have a very special place in the history and folklore of the game - often watched by huge crowds at venues like Odsal and Manchester’s Maine Road, and often producing classic matches and outstanding performances. Very few have been sighted on film or video so this
DVD is a real collectors’ item.
Enjoy the action with the famous voice of commentator Eddie Waring as St.Helens - led by prop Cliff Watson (pictured above being chaired by his victorious team-mates) came back to beat the favourites Leeds. The Loiners had finished top of the league table, with Saints second, and with the emerging talent of a young John Holmes (pictured right) alongside the half-backs Shoebottom and Seabourne, were confident. St.Helens had other ideas, with Watson and his Great Britain skipper Frank Myler leading from the front alongside  other stars like Kel Coslett, Billy Benyon, John Mantle and Frankie Barrow they defied hail storms and thunder and lightening which added to the drama of this day at Odsal on May 16th, 1970.
Pictures in black and white, full match coverage
including BBC out-takes not broadcast at the time.
