1987 ORIGIN DECIDER
More Information
1987 ORIGIN DECIDERThe 1987 State of Origin series in Australia was widely regarded as “state of the art” Rugby League when it happened. And, with Queensland and New South Wales locked at one win each after two nail-biting encounters, the all-important decider at Brisbane’s Lang Park was sold out within a few hours of tickets going on sale.
The showdown at Lang Park lived up fully to all expectations, and became an epic, as “The King” Wally Lewis led his Queensland team into battle against a Blues team containing such stars as Brett Kenny, Peter Sterling and their captain Wayne Pearce. Queensland had giant centres Mal Meninga and Gene Miles playing outside Lewis and the tiny half-back Allan Langer in his first season of State football.
As with all Origin games from those epic days of the 1980s, the battle up front for forward supremacy was fierce - it was Rugby League in the raw, but played with breathtaking skills from some of the game’s all-time greats.
The date was July 15th, 1987, and this match was seen as one of the greatest games of football ever seen at that time. Relive all the action and see those stars again on this unique DVD.
